Can Media Regain Public Trust

Media plays a critical role in the development of a certain attitude towards the government. Unfortunately not many reporters are free to say what is on their mind, and instead say and report what is expected from them as a reporter. Studies show that people don't entirely believe what is said on TV or internet, and newspaper yet they still watch and read news. social media has been influenced power due to governments point of view. When watching the news on TV a reporter MUST tell the news as the agency expects him to report it and any other way can jeopardize his or her job. Professionalism is required but the way news are reported is heavily influenced by the head of the department. Media can still regain the trust from the public by delivering the truth as they see it. and being themselves, the reporter that is more natural and convincing will gain the trust of the public a lot easier than those who follow and report news very scriptive. Another reason why people start losing trust in the media is because many different methods of news reporting start using humor in the news when its only used to entertain as oppose to proving credible news. Which should be the only reason why they report. If someone wanted to be entertain they would watch a show on TV. this and other reasons explains why the public slowly loses trust in media.

Will evolving forms of journalism be an improvement

When evolving into a different type of communication many conflicts come upon. for example a different method of informing the people,  such as the evolution of news broadcasting. Over time people have been used to informing news in a story style. informing everything line by line, in the same routine. but recently new broadcasting has evolved into a conversational style, were there is communication amongst the news anchors. This  style is a lot easier to follow if you are watching the news from begging to end, but the old style being straight to the point is easy to catch on from any point, as it constantly starts and ends as the different topics arise. I believe this new evolving method is much better although I do agree that the point of view of the news provider is mostly reflected on their opinion. The person trying to retain the news can be easily influenced by the different sources. And this is the main concern by people against this method, it allows the source to be very influential to the people due to a more conversational way of telling news.

After watching two different news broadcasting i can better understand, how seriousness affect the audience. And how false news misleads the media, in the today show with Jon Stewart, many jokes and cursing take the primary role in delivering their news effectively. they try to prove how their point of view is correct, and they put down the other side by making heavy jokes about them.  Effective because its funny, and people like to laugh. although they do deliver accurate information, this source should not be credited as a reliable source of news. On the other hand FOX news has a different side, their female reporter in the video i watched was very serious, and takes her job very professionally. And knows how to report news effectively by bringing up interesting questions to the politician being interviewed.  although the daily show provides current news, the jokes bring down the credibility, and mostly effective as a comedy show.

Does Fake News Mislead the Public

The information provided by the media in different coverage newscast in my opinion misleads the public by providing fake news. The humor is more abundant than the actual news report, this many times decreases the importance of the substantive information, that they  are trying to report. News reporting is based to much on the ideology of the different channels. The different types of media such as magazines, newspapers, internet, new shows, are all very idealistic and report their information based on certain beliefs. Events such as presidential elections campaign can be very biased. And views of different media mislead the public opinion.

Unit 1, Issue 1

Schiller's point of view towards the media to create, process, refine, and preside over the circulation of images and information, which determine our beliefs and attitudes, and ultimately, our behavior. Schiller has five myths that structure content also influence the identification of personal choice with human freedom. His first myth is of individualism and personal choice, which states that manipulation is the greatest trimuph, meaning people don't think for themselves. The second myth of neutrality, is the belief that things are the way they are naturally and inevitably. The third myth of unchanging human nature, which states that what human nature is seen to be, ultimately effects the way human beings behave. The fourth myth is the myth of absence of social conflict, consciousness controllers in their presentation of the domestic scene deny absolutely the presence of social conflict. The last myth is the myth of media pluralism, which is when personal choice is exercised in an environment of cultural information where a diversity is the image. (Hanson, pgs 5-9)

I believe Schiller's myths and theories exemplify a very structural style of living. These myths can be seen as a way to live by to where is appears to be ideal to the media and with what they approve. The one myth that I really do agree with is the second one. I feel that things do happen naturally and you can't change that.
